Message from the Headteacher
What a fantastic year it has been here at Vicar’s Green Primary School! I would like to thank our amazing staff team, who work tirelessly throughout the year to provide the children with an environment that is nurturing, exciting and aspirational. We have much to celebrate and we send a huge thank you to the parents for their continued support over the year.
Once again, our attendance data is exemplary, demonstrating the children’s love of learning and their enjoyment of school life. It is so important that children attend school every day and they have enjoyed many exciting activities, trips and visitors that have helped bring their learning to life. Our school numbers remain high and we have waiting lists in several year groups, which is testament to the high quality teaching and learning on offer and the results we achieve.
We are delighted with our statutory assessment outcomes and we have achieved strong phonics results once again in Year 1 with a 95% pass rate and a 100% pass rate at the end of Year 2. In Year 4 our pupils demonstrated their confidence and ability in the Multiplication Tables Check with 92% of pupils scoring 20 points and above, while 66% achieved full marks. We are also very proud of our Year 6 and the dedication and maturity they showed while preparing for their SATS in May. Their hard work certainly paid off and we recently shared their success on our website. If you missed it… we achieved 82% in reading, 90% in maths, 85% in SPAG and 83% in writing which are all well above National and Ealing. Our outcomes are particularly strong for pupils achieving the higher standard in Year 6, which demonstrates the impact of teaching and the aspirations we have for all of our pupils.
In May we had Ofsted visit the school and the staff and children were very keen to share the great things that go on at VGPS. They reviewed the school thoroughly and their report confirmed that we are ‘outstanding’, providing an environment in which pupils ‘flourish’ and a curriculum that is ‘highly aspirational’. Our curriculum is broad and balanced and we continue to recognise and develop the gifts and talents of our pupils. This has recently been recognised in PE when we received the ‘Platinum Award’ which is the highest commendation for our PE curriculum and our commitment to pupil’s health and wellbeing.
At this time of year we say a fond goodbye to our Year 6 pupils and we wish them the very best as they begin their High School adventures. This year we also say farewell to some valued members of our team. With sadness, Miss Corlett-Moss has decided to find a school closer to her new home at different part of London, and Miss Healy will be moving back to her native Australia. Mr Bradley, after many months of planning will be off on his travels and we wish Mr Forestieri the best of luck in his change of career. They have given a great deal of energy and commitment to the school and we wish them well in their next chapter.
We also say a very warm welcome to Ms Uba who is returning to us after spending time teaching in the Middle East, to Mrs De Bruyne who is an experienced teacher joining the EYFS team, and to our new specialist art teacher- Mrs Wilkinson.
We look forward to the new academic year with anticipation! We will welcome you back to school at 8.50am on Wednesday 4th September 2024-all bright-eyed and brushy-tailed. Please check your child’s school uniform well in advance to make sure they fit, including their black shoes, to ensure they are ready for the start of the new year. You are also advised to follow the uniform policy on haircuts, as children are not permitted to have extreme haircuts. These are classified
We are immensely proud of our children and what we have achieved as a whole school community and, on behalf of the Governing Body, wish you all an enjoyable summer.
Warm regards Iman Basu Roy
