I would like to start my message today, by addressing the Year 6 parents as their children will be taking the end of Key Stage 2 statutory exams the week after next. The children in Year 6 have worked hard all year and I am fully confident that the teachers have prepared them well both academically and emotionally for the upcoming assessments.
Mr Tinney and I have been monitoring their progress from the start of this year and I am delighted with the resilience and perseverance they have been demonstrating.
During the SATs week, please may I request our parents to make sure the children go to bed in good time, so they have a decent amount of uninterrupted sleep. Also, they must have a healthy breakfast, which is not too high in sugars. If they are feeling a bit anxious, please assure them that they all have been well prepared and are ready for these assessments.
At Vicar’s Green we have had a considerable increase in the swimming provision on offer, and pupils now have access to double the number of swimming lessons. The post-covid swimming data showed a downward trajectory in pupils competence to swim 25m independently. Therefore, along with the PE Lead I have made the decision to spend a significant portion of the Schools Sports Premium towards developing pupils swimming ability, water safety and water confidence.
Some new events have been added to the diary dates below, please do take some time to glance over these. I hope you get to spend quality time with your family and friends this bank holiday weekend.
Warm Regards Iman Basu Roy
