It has been a busy week for our Year 6 children, as they completed the compulsory end of key stage two SATs tests. We are all very proud of the way that you stayed calm and composed over the the four days of assessments. To end their week on a more exciting event, the children in Wren and Woodpecker will be having a pizza party to celebrate the end of the testing period.
This week, we had a full governing body meeting to discuss a number of areas across the school for next year. One of the topics of discussion was our budget for 2024/2025. I am pleased to announce that our considerable budget for the next academic year has been approved by the board of governors. This is significantly important for our children, as it allows us to continue to provide the enhancements above the statutory requirements of a school. This means that we can continue to provide the extra swimming lessons for the relevant year groups, have two specialist music teachers and our designated art teacher.
Throughout the year, we have a number of pupil voice meetings with children across the school. These meetings can be about topics and events happening at Vicar's Green. This week the focus on the meetings with the children, was to discuss their previous learning. A number of teachers met with children to discuss and share their learning across the whole curriculum. We were amazed with the vocabulary that they have acquired, and how they are able to explain subject-specific language. The most pleasing thing that we witnessed, was how the children were able to select and discuss what work they were most proud of. They did this confidently and with immense pride!
Finally, please ensure that you are applying sun-cream to your children before school each day. As the weather improves, the need to protect our children's skin from the UV rays is of high importance.
