Message from the Headteacher
The start of the spring term presents an opportunity for our children to build on the learning they engaged in at the start of the academic year, while also acquiring and applying new skills from their year’s curriculum. It has been a joy to see the children move on to their next steps and apply this new knowledge in all subjects.
We are also beginning to focus on preparing the year groups that will be sitting government statutory assessments this year, specifically Year 1, Year 4, and Year 6. As we move into Spring 2, our teachers have identified areas where learning gaps may have appeared, and they’ve created a modified curriculum to address these areas, ensuring the content is embedded in lessons where it best fits.
Half-term homework has been set, so please include these tasks in your holiday routine. I would highly recommend a visit to your local library, where you can find some of your child's recommended reads for their year group. These recommendations are also available on our school website.
PE kits have been sent home to be washed over the holidays, so please ensure they are returned on the first day back, as PE lessons will start immediately. You will also find a list of key dates at the bottom of this newsletter—please mark these in your diaries, particularly Parents' Evening on the 25th and 26th of March. This is a wonderful opportunity to learn about how your child is progressing and how you can best support them at home.
Lastly, I would like to take a moment to acknowledge one of our longest-serving staff members, Mrs Callow, who will be leaving Vicar’s Green at the end of the holidays. Mrs Callow has been with us for 10 years and has worked closely with me to implement policies and procedures that ensure the school complies with medical and site management standards. On behalf of the staff, children, and myself, we would like to wish her the very best in her future endeavours and hope she keeps in touch.
Warm regards Iman Basu Roy
