Message from the Headteacher
This week, our school has been actively participating in Anti-Bullying Week, with a focus on teaching the children about bullying, how to recognise it, and what to do if they or others experience it, both in school and beyond. On Tuesday, the children wore odd socks to celebrate the message that we are all different, and that diversity is what makes us special and strong. Today, the students took part in an Anti-Bullying Afternoon, engaging in activities, watching videos, and participating in role play exercises to better understand how to respond to bullying and support others.
It has been a busy week for trips at Vicar’s Green. On Monday, our School Council, led by Ms. Lydon, visited Alperton Cemetery to pay their respects for Remembrance Day. They took a wreath to show our gratitude and honour the sacrifices made by so many. Meanwhile, Year 1 students had an educational trip to Gunnersbury Park, where they deepened their understanding of houses, both from the past and present, through hands-on learning experiences.
I would like to finish this newsletter by addressing a serious matter. Yesterday, we had an incident outside the school where a child on a scooter was very nearly hit by a car while crossing the road alone. This serves as a stark reminder of the importance of road safety, especially around school hours. I kindly ask that parents refrain from driving directly outside the school before and after school to ensure the safety of our children and families. Additionally, I would request that both parents and children wait on the pavement, as Lily Gardens remains a live road and is still being used by our neighbours. Your co-operation in keeping our school environment safe is greatly appreciated, and I thank you for your continued support in safeguarding our children.
Warm regards Iman Basu Roy
