Message from the Headteacher
After the excitement of World Book Day, we collected all the stories in a container and displayed them in Chestnut Hall.
The children have been able to see the wonderful efforts of each other, and have been impressed with the detail that people had gone to with their creations. In the poster below, you will see the work of the children that entered the competition. You might even enjoy guessing the name of the story with your child.
Yesterday afternoon, I met with the Finance Committee to share the budget of this current financial year. We discussed the expense and income in detail, breaking these down into various sections, such as salaries, utilities, subscriptions and third party contractors.
The governors scrutinised the different areas, and questioned me on codes that showed an over spend, and were interested to know what strategies are in place to maintain the accuracy of our predictions for the coming financial year.
I am glad to share with you that the school has ended the year in a very stable financial condition, and is now working on a prediction for the coming year, which will be shared with the full governing board in May, before being sent off to the Local Authority.
On Tuesday 25th and Wednesday 26th March, we will be holding our spring parents’ evenings. It is vital that parents attend these meetings, to find out how your child is progressing academically, sociably and behaviourally. You will be able to book your slot on Parent Mail from Sunday 16th March, at 12pm.
Finally, it is that time of the year again, when we will be visited by the travelling book fair. The children are incredibly excited about this, and all of our children have been given a £1 off voucher to purchase a book of their choice. There will be a vast range of books for children from nursery, all the way to Year 6. Payments at the book fair will be card only, and we will not be able to accept any cash.
Warm regards Iman Basu Roy
